Management Accountant (Public Sector)

Are you a finance professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for driving service improvement? This Accountant role offers the opportunity to play a key part in supporting senior leaders with expert financial advice, developing business cases, and helping to shape effective financial management across the organisation.

The role:

• Provide financial support, analysis, and advice to senior managers and budget holders.
• Develop business cases and costings to support service and project planning.
• Monitor budgets, analyse variances, and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to financial reporting, planning, and capital programme monitoring.
• Manage financial risks and support internal/external audit processes.
• Deliver financial training, tools, and information to improve budget management.
• Ensure compliance with policies, maintain professionalism, and continuously develop skills.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

• Qualified Accountant from a professional body.
• Experience in financial management.
• Experience of budgetary control and preparation of management accounting reports.
