MCS Group has an exciting opportunity for an IAM Specialist to join a major public sector transformation programme. This is a leadership role within the integration team, tasked with delivering secure and scalable IAM solutions to support regional systems used across public services.

As IAM Specialist, you will work with a team of IT professionals in the design, development, and support of critical system integration's. You will also play a central role in enhancing identity life-cycle processes, role-based access controls, and developing robust IAM frameworks that align with organisational security standards.

The Role:

  • Lead the development of secure IAM workflows and system integrations.
  • Design and implement access controls, entitlement structures, and audit/reporting capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and third-party suppliers on delivery and support.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with security standards, including MFA, SoD, and least-privilege models.
  • Provide technical leadership on IAM tools and strategies across the programme.
  • Contribute to project planning, solution design, and ongoing support and enhancements.

The Person- Essential Criteria:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in an ICT-related discipline with 3+ years' experience in an IAM role
    OR
    5+ years' experience in an IAM role within a major organisation.
  • Solid hands-on expertise with platforms such as Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta, or Oracle IAM.
  • Familiarity with IAM-related technologies (SSO, ADFS, MFA, RBAC, PKI, etc.).
  • Proven experience implementing security best practices like least privilege access and segregation of duties.
  • Experience creating and managing RBAC within large-scale enterprise systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage work-streams, meet tight deadlines, and deliver to specification.

The Person- Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with protocols such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, and Kerberos.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Experience with APIs and web service integration.

Location: Belfast / Hybrid
Duration: 6 - 12 months
Salary: Band 7 Equivalent (Entry point on scale £46,148 per annum)
Hours: 37.5 per week
