Our client, a leading manufacturing business, is seeking an HR Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong junior HR experience who is eager to develop further within a fast-paced environment.

The Role
As HR Assistant, you'll play a vital part in supporting the HR function and wider management team, ensuring processes run smoothly and policies are applied consistently. You'll gain exposure to the full range of HR activities, from recruitment and onboarding to compliance and employee relations. This role has a direct progression plan to HR Advisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support across all areas of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, induction, and the wider employee lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both digital and paper-based, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Manage pre-employment checks such as Right-to-Work verification, prepare contracts, and handle all documentation for new starters.
  • Support managers with onboarding, inductions, and probation reviews to ensure a smooth transition for new employees.
  • Advertise vacancies, manage applications, arrange interviews, and keep recruitment files updated.
  • Complete required annual HR reports, including Fair Employment Monitoring returns.
  • Produce and circulate weekly absence reports for Team Managers.
  • Track and monitor the completion of key HR processes, such as appraisals, Return-to-Work interviews, and attendance-related disciplinaries.
  • Assist in drafting and updating job descriptions, HR documentation, and policies.
  • Coordinate training activities, apprenticeship agreements, and HR reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to promoting a positive employee experience and strengthening the employer brand.
  • Act as a first point of contact for HR queries, escalating more complex issues as needed.
  • Provide additional administrative support as required, such as arranging eye tests for prescription safety glasses.
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of HR processes and practices.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in an HR role
  • Experience in a similar industry/ environment ideal
  • CIPD qualification or relevant degree ideal
  • Strong attention to detail and organisation skills
