Mechanical Technician - 6-Month Opportunity

As a Mechanical Technician, you will work as part of the Fleet Mechanical & Engineering teams, helping to ensure that all specialist vehicles and operational equipment remain ready for service at all times.
The role:
Carry out repairs, servicing, diagnostics and modifications on fire appliances, blue light vehicles and supporting equipment, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.
Undertake inspections including PSV/MOT testing, electrical and hydraulic system maintenance, welding, fabrication and bodywork repairs, often in challenging environments and at operational incidents.
Participate in the regional on-call rota, making independent repair decisions to maintain operational resilience outside normal hours.
Record and manage inspection, repair and stock data accurately within the Management Information System, ensuring compliance with audit requirements and effective stock control.
Provide technical guidance, training and supervision to firefighters and apprentices, while maintaining up-to-date accreditation's across all engineering disciplines.
Liaise with internal managers, manufacturers and suppliers to ensure quality standards are met, support investigations into incidents, and certify vehicles and equipment as safe and legally compliant.
Contribute to service performance, governance and improvement by delivering high standards of customer service, upholding NIFRS policies, and safeguarding organisational assets and reputation.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential Criteria:
- Qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance.
- Experience working with mechanical works on large/heavy vehicles.
- Experience with instillation's/maintenance/fault-finding of electrical systems on equipment and vehicles.
- Hold a valid drivers license at a class UK C.
