Finance Officer (Charity)

The role:
- Financial Management: Maintain accurate financial records, manage month-end close, and ensure compliance with internal controls and policies.
- Reporting: Produce monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial analysis for senior management.
- Grants & Fund Management: Monitor fund allocations, prepare financial reports for funders, and support funding applications and audits.
- Budgeting: Assist in annual budget preparation and provide financial guidance to departmental heads.
- Payroll: Process payroll, manage statutory reporting, and maintain accurate leave and salary records.
- Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits, maintain asset registers, and ensure financial procedures are audit-ready.
- Leadership & Support: Deputise for Head of Finance, mentor junior staff, and handle finance-related queries and ad hoc tasks.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
- Qualified AAT, IATI or part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA AND experience in a similar financial role, Or extensive experience in a similar financial role.
- Strong financial analytical skills with demonstrable experience of a logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrable experience of preparing and processing Payroll including HMRC and pension submission.
- Proven ability to manage a range of competing weekly and monthly priorities to deliver accurate work in line with a monthly schedule and to tight deadlines.
Desirable:
- Experience working in an organisation with multiple funding streams
- Knowledge of Sage Line 50 accounts
- Previous charity experience
