Are you a finance professional passionate about making a difference in the charity sector?
Adopt NI is seeking a dedicated Finance Manager to join their growing Belfast-based team. As an independent charity, Adopt NI supports adults affected by adoption and family separation, with a focus on survivors of Mother and Baby Homes, Magdalene Laundries, and Workhouses in Northern Ireland.
In this role, you'll play a key part in managing the finances of a vital project, working alongside a passionate, trauma-informed team committed to delivering meaningful, person-centred support.
The role:
- Assist in the implementation and management of Xero financial systems to support accurate reporting and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in collaboration with the CEO.
- Oversee payroll, pension payments, HMRC submissions, and monthly staff expenses.
- Produce management accounts, financial reports, and statements for internal use, funders, and auditors.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including Charity Commission and Companies House reporting.
- Maintain financial policies, internal controls, and support risk management processes.
- Advise the CEO and Board on financial governance and legal responsibilities.
- Carry out general duties including team collaboration, training, GDPR compliance, and administrative tasks.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
- Hold a degree-level qualification in accountancy, finance, or a related discipline.
- Have demonstrable experience in a relevant financial or accounting role.
Desirable:
- Hold a professional accountancy qualification OR part qualification.
- Knowledge of Charity SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice).
- Experience working within the charity or voluntary sector.
- Proficiency in using Xero accounting software
