We're recruiting on behalf of a Local Goverment team to add an environmental health officer- A vital role dedicated to safeguarding the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of residents, workers, and visitors across the Borough.

The role:

  • Enforcing all relevant Environmental Health legislation and supporting the Environmental Health Manager in achieving departmental objectives.

  • Identifying information and training needs within the business and residential community, and planning awareness campaigns to promote compliance and wellbeing.

  • Inspecting, auditing and risk assessing premises across a full range of Environmental Health functions.

  • Investigating and resolving complaints, providing professional advice, and taking appropriate enforcement or educational action.

  • Preparing statutory notices, prosecution files, and acting as an expert witness when required.

  • Liaising with government departments, businesses, and community organisations to deliver effective partnerships and service improvements.

  • Assisting with emergency responses such as pollution incidents, infectious disease control, or food safety investigations.

  • Contributing to policy development, service improvement initiatives, and health education programmes.

  • Providing guidance and supervision to students or newly appointed Environmental Health Officers.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Qualification in Environmental Health and previous experience.
  • Competence in IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications.

  • Knowledge and understanding of current Environmental Health legislation.

  • A full current driving licence (or access to suitable transport if a disability prevents driving).
