MCs Group are working with a large public sector team in finding an economic development officer. This role is a 2 month temporary contract, covering additional recourse - this may be extended.

The Key Details:

  • Ballymena based, with travel around the area.
  • 2 month temporary contract.
  • £22.71 per hour.
  • Hybrid and flexi-working offered.

The Person:

  • Support the development and implementation of an integrated economic strategy focused on enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

  • Manage a range of business growth programmes, including enterprise support, skills development, employer engagement, and services for underrepresented groups.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across public, private, and voluntary sectors to deliver economic and social enterprise initiatives.

  • Organise key business events and campaigns, such as Enterprise Week and local business awards, including associated marketing and PR efforts.

  • Assist in securing external funding by preparing bids, business cases, and monitoring reports, while ensuring compliance with audits and financial regulations.

  • Monitor and evaluate projects and programmes, aligning systems and reporting with requirements from EU and other funding bodies.

  • Provide leadership and team management, ensuring high performance, professional development, and alignment with strategic goals.

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data protection laws, corporate policies, and equality, diversity, and governance standards.

The Person:

  • A degree in relevant subject, eg business or finance

AND

  • Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, a minimum of two year's experience in an economic/business environment, to include a proven ability in:

    • Advising and supporting the development of start up and existing businesses.
    • Developing, managing and promoting initiatives to support existing small businesses and facilitate their growth and development.
    • Developing and maintaining effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes for the organisation, including securing external funding.
    • Financial management, analysis and reporting.
  • A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a car OR Have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the economic development policy environment and the local, regional and national challenges facing the economy.
