Overview

MCS Group are delighted to be working with a family-founded business that has grown into a market-leading manufacturer within the construction and agricultural sectors, to recruit a Civil Sales Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company recognised for its quality, innovation, and reliability. The Civil Sales Manager will play a key role in leading a team civil estimator, driving client relationships, and supporting business growth. While direct estimating experience is not necessarily required, a strong technical background and the ability to provide guidance will be essential for success in this role.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and manage a team of four civil estimators, setting and tracking KPIs.
  • Act as the main contact for Tier 1 contractors and key clients, ensuring pricing requests and bids are handled on time.
  • Oversee the full sales cycle, from tendering and bid management to customer follow-up and reporting.
  • Drive business development by building client relationships and securing places on new supply chains.
  • Monitor budgets and sales performance, providing regular updates to management.
  • Collaborate with internal planning, production, and technical teams to align sales with delivery.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales management within construction, civil engineering, or a related industry.
  • Strong people management skills, with experience leading and developing teams.
  • Solid commercial awareness and understanding of the tendering and bidding process.
  • Ability to manage client relationships at all levels, including Tier 1 contractors.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in tracking sales performance, budgets, and KPIs.

Desirable / Advantageous

  • Technical background in construction, civil engineering, or related discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to support estimators and client discussions.
  • Experience in business development, including securing places on supply chains.
