Business Development Manager - Food Service (12-Month FTC)
MCS Group are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading family-owned organisation with over a century of success in food and brand innovation for the position of Business Development Manager - Foodservice. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing and developing a defined sales territory across Northern Ireland, taking full accountability for sales performance, debt management, margin, and profit. This Business Development Manager role will focus on both expanding existing customer relationships and securing new business within the foodservice sector. Supporting local communities and independent businesses through a strong network of retail and foodservice brands, the successful candidate will be a driven, strategic professional with a passion for sustainability, innovation, and building trusted partnerships.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Achieve and exceed agreed territory sales and margin targets.
  • Grow the customer base by identifying and converting new business opportunities.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing clients by expanding the range of chilled, frozen, and ambient products supplied.
  • Target competitor accounts to increase market share.
  • Ensure all customer accounts operate within credit terms.
  • Manage travel and operational costs effectively through structured planning and efficient territory management.
  • Provide excellent customer service through clear communication and timely administrative support.
  • Monitor and report on competitor activity and wider market trends.
  • Maintain accurate reporting, including journey plans, weekly performance reports, and customer records.
  • Support company-wide sales campaigns and initiatives as required.


Essential Criteria and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent).
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • At least 3 years' experience in proactive field sales within the foodservice industry, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of catering operations and commercial models.
  • Experience with multi-temperature product ranges (chilled, frozen, ambient).
