Overview

MCS Group are delighted to be recruiting for a Business Development Manager on behalf of an award-winning fresh food producer based in Northern Ireland. Our client is a leading supplier to the retail, foodservice, and manufacturing sectors across Great Britain, Ireland, and Northern Ireland, delivering high-quality prepared and value-added convenience food products to some of the UK & Ireland's best-known brands.

This is a senior commercial role suited to an experienced FMCG or fresh/foodservice sales professional. The position offers strong growth potential, a clear route into leadership, and the opportunity to build and lead a team of account managers, with travel primarily across ROI and England. Candidates may be based in Northern or Southern Ireland.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Own the sales development strategy across England, ROI, and NI, focusing on delivering improved turnover and market share.
  • Drive new business growth in ROI and GB to achieve and exceed growth targets.
  • Develop strong relationships with key retailers, foodservice partners, and distributors to expand the company footprint.
  • Lead customer negotiations, contract renewals, pricing discussions, and promotional plans.
  • Identify and execute strategic account plans to unlock category opportunities and deliver volume growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage a commercial team of 3 account managers, fostering performance excellence and accountability.

Essential Criteria and Qualifications

  • Proven B2B sales success in FMCG, fresh produce, foodservice, or related categories (e.g., salads, perishables, grocery, convenience).
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing complex accounts and negotiating high-value deals.
  • Experience driving sales across ROI, GB, and NI markets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and grow a sales team.
  • Full UK/EU driving license and willingness to travel extensively.
