MCS Group is delighted to be working with a global professional services company based in Belfast to recruit a Business Development Executive (Marketing) to join the team and support with the achievement of the business objectives.


This role focuses on implementing a business development (BD) strategy across the energy sector, including emerging energy transition areas such as green fuels, carbon capture and storage, and battery minerals. You will support the growth of the business by collaborating internationally on sector-driven BD activities, pitches, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proposals: Independently lead the creation of proposals, pitch materials and credentials for energy and energy-transition opportunities. Track outcomes and ensure follow-up with internal stakeholders.
  • Systems & Processes: Work with the wider team to manage BD/marketing systems, maintain collateral (credentials, CVs, contact lists), update online materials, and coordinate reporting on experience databases. Identify opportunities to streamline tools and processes.
  • Directories & Awards: Lead submissions to industry directories and awards to raise the profile of the practice.
  • Market & Client Research: Provide research and maintain a flow of key market and client intelligence (pipeline activity, major players, competitive moves) to senior stakeholders.
  • Client Events: Identify client hospitality opportunities and assist in organising events.
  • Projects: Support additional firmwide, departmental or practice-specific projects as needed.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of, or strong interest in, the energy and energy-transition sectors, with a willingness to develop deep market expertise.
  • Significant BD/marketing experience within professional services or the energy sector, including frequent work with senior leadership.
  • Strong experience managing the RfP process end-to-end.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritise effectively and work confidently with busy fee earners.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and motivate internal stakeholders.
  • Proven experience developing and delivering BD strategies that achieved measurable results.
  • Willingness to travel globally for sector reviews, planning sessions and client-related meetings.
