Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician seeking a rewarding role within a meaningful and unique healthcare environment?
MCS Group is recruiting a Pharmacy Technician (Band 4) for the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, joining its Healthcare in Prison service.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist team delivering safe, effective and patient centred medicines management within a secure clinical environment.
The Role:
* Support all aspects of dispensary services under the supervision of a pharmacist.
* Dispense medications using the Trust's pharmacy computer system.
* Deliver an efficient treatment room top up service and monitor stock usage.
* Maintain fridge temperature logs and ensure full compliance with cold chain procedures.
* Process medication returns, assess suitability for reuse and ensure safe disposal of unused items.
* Issue self administration medicines and provide appropriate counselling to patients.
* Assist nursing staff with Controlled Drugs administration and maintain Controlled Drug registers.
* Manage non stock items, repeat prescriptions and conduct expiry date checks.
* Update patient medication records using the clinical system.
* Monitor self administered medicines to safeguard safe and appropriate use.
* Liaise with clinical staff, nursing teams and the contracted dispensing provider
* Contribute to prescribing trend analysis and promote cost effective medicines use.
* Ensure secure storage of medicines in accordance with legislation and Trust policies.
The Person:
* A minimum of two years experience as a Student Pharmacy Technician.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car, unless exempt under disability legislation.
