Are you passionate about pyschological services that support the rehabilitation of service users?

We're recruiting on behalf of Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to add an Assistant Pyschologist within their Acquired Brain Rehabilitation Injury Team.

As a member of the team, you assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work as relevant to the post.

The post holder will be exposed to aggressive/highly distressed behaviour from patients and family members. Training in the management of aggression is mandatory and staff will be provided with access to panic alarms.

The role:

  • Conduct a wide range of psychological assessments using psychometric tools, interviews, observations and self-report measures, involving clients, families and carers.

  • Assist in the formulation and delivery of psychological support plans, therapeutic groups and care frameworks under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist and the multi-disciplinary team.

  • Contribute to service development, research and audit through data collection, analysis, report writing and literature reviews to support evidence-based practice.

  • Support the training and supervision of staff in psychological care whilst developing personal skills and competencies through regular supervision and CPD.

  • Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping, report writing, test preparation, administrative duties and adherence to professional and Trust policies.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, safety huddles, group activities and excursions, providing flexibility to work outside normal hours if required.

  • Uphold Trust values and statutory responsibilities by ensuring confidentiality, information governance, health and safety, equality and professionalism in all aspects of practice.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Psychology graduate.
  • Knowledge of the impacts and implications of brain injury for adults cognitive, emotional, functional and behavioural presentation.
