We're recruiting on behalf of Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to add an Assistant Psychologist within their Adult Psychological Therapies Service.

As a member of the team, you assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work as relevant to the post.

The post holder will be exposed to aggressive/highly distressed behaviour from patients and family members. Training in the management of aggression is mandatory and staff will be provided with access to panic alarms.

The role:

  • Conduct psychological assessments using tests, interviews, and observations to inform care plans.
  • Support the delivery of psychological treatments and therapeutic group sessions under supervision.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate clinical records and manage data entry across Trust systems.
  • Contribute to research, audits, and service evaluations, analysing data and preparing reports.
  • Uphold Health & Safety standards during clinical work, including safe manual handling and professional conduct in challenging situations.
  • Participate in supervision, training, and ongoing professional development to enhance service delivery.
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, supporting consistent, high-quality patient care.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Psychology graduate- minimum of 2nd class hons or higher.
  • Previous experience as a assistant psychologist.
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.

  • Experience of conducting neuropsychological/ psychometric assessments (e.g. WAIS-IV) under supervision.
