Assistant Accountant

MCS Group is pleased to be partnering with a successful local employer based in Newry to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is a well-established Northern Irish business that continues to experience steady growth. With a supportive and collaborative culture, they are now expanding their finance team, creating an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to develop their career.

Your New Role:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, responsibilities will include:

• Processing supplier payments, expenses, and high-volume invoicing.
• Supporting with budgets, spending analysis, and grant funding.
• Investigating and resolving finance queries and discrepancies.
• Assisting the Financial Controller with transactional finance and wider finance functions.

What You Need to Succeed?

• Previous experience working in a finance role.
• Studying towards a professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA) or IATI/AAT qualified.
• Strong attention to detail with good analytic and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and bring fresh ideas.

• Salary £28,000 - £35,000 DOE with full study support.

• 4-day week for part of the year, plus hybrid half-day option in spring - all on a full-time salary.
