Area Sales Manager

Overview

MCS are delighted to be recruiting an Area Sales Manager for a market leading company in the timber industry. This Area Sales Manager will focus on covering the Northern region of Ireland. This field-based role focuses on selling sawn timber into a well-established network of builder's merchants. With a strong customer base already in place, the Area Sales Manager role is ideal for a commercially minded individual with a proven track record in merchant sales.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow sales across Louth, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, and Northern Ireland.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing merchant clients, supported by an internal sales team.
• Promote and upsell timber products across a defined territory, ensuring full product sell-through.
• Act as the key external point of contact, with smart planning and minimal need for price negotiation.
• Use CRM systems effectively and spend initial months learning key internal processes and regions.
• Travel across the region, with occasional overnight stays (approx. 2-3 nights/month).

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Proven field sales experience in selling timber or construction/building products into builder's merchants.
• Strong understanding of the merchant landscape and buying groups.
• Commercial awareness and ability to hit the ground running in a competitive market.
• Ideally, experience in materials such as timber, slates, plasterboard, or adhesives.
• Excellent communication, planning, and relationship-building skills.
• Full driving licence required.
