MCS Life

What is MCS Life?

At MCS Group, we have created our own employee well-being strategy founded on the four key pillars of social, mental, physical, and financial well-being.

We are passionate about a holistic approach to employee well-being and believe that such an approach is the key to a more fulfilled and happy life. When these elements work in harmony, one will feel more balanced, fulfilled, and happy.

Our MCS Life Pillars have dedicated champions in each area. They lead the charge in promoting and encouraging all the team at MCS to look after their health and wellbeing, adopting a well-rounded and balanced approach.

Social Wellbeing

At MCS we champion social well-being by promoting a sense of belonging, purpose, and connection at MCS. Feeling connected lies at the core of social well-being. We are a collaborative and people-driven company that recognizes the importance of a connected and close-knit team.

To foster a sense of belonging and connection we have several social initiatives in place including group volunteering, regular team days out, MCS pool nights, and much more.

Our Marketing Executive Lucy is passionate about well-being and said:

“I believe that feeling connected is crucial to our well-being and happiness, which is why I love how much emphasis MCS places on all aspects of one's well-being including social! The team is able to stay connected and there is a real close-knit feel to MCS thanks to the regular social activities including CSR days where we have planted trees, end-of-quarter events, Friday drinks and group volunteering!”

Mental Wellbeing

At MCS we champion mental well-being daily. We believe looking after your mental health and well-being is crucial and invest in providing the support and tools to enable the team to do so

The team has access to an emotional and mental well-being platform, in-person counselling, and 24-hour advice service. We also have a dedicated team of Mental Health First Aiders who have been professionally qualified to act as the first point of contact for any employee experiencing a mental health problem.

One of our mental health first aiders Rebekah shared “Support for mental well-being in the workplace is something I feel very passionate about, and I love the fact that MCS does too. I was fortunate to be chosen to be trained as mental health first aider through AWARE NI, which educated me on signs to spot, and how to react when someone either displayed these signs or if someone actively sought you out for advice”

Physical Wellbeing

At MCS we champion physical well-being by encouraging and advocating for all employees to move their bodies and stay active, not only for their physical health but also for their mental well-being.

The two go hand in hand and moving your body is an excellent way to relieve stress and boost endorphins. To do so we have several fantastic initiatives to get the team moving, including bi-weekly office yoga, quarterly team challenges including a step contest, taking part in the Belfast marathon, and the option to have walking meetings!

Rachel is one of our physical well-being champions and said: “As well as working on building a fitness routine outside of work, the health and fitness incentives at MCS have played a huge role in helping me in my fitness journey – we’ve had the step challenge in January, I took part in the Belfast Marathon relay team in May, and we have yoga classes in the office biweekly”

Financial Wellbeing

At MCS we champion financial well-being by equipping the team with the knowledge to confidently manage their money and plan for their futures.

We have regular Lunch and Learn workshops with guests including Brewin Dolphin and Crawford Mulholland sharing expert advice on investment, mortgages, and budgeting.

Our HR Manager Leigh sits under our Financial Pillar and said:

“With 20 years of experience in payroll, along with a love of spreadsheets I was delighted to join MCS Life to share knowledge and tips on budgeting and looking after the pennies, along with providing advice and guidance on payroll and pension queries. I have organized our lunch and learn workshops, focusing on setting and managing budgets, saving for long-term goals, and how to get the most out of your money!”
