Wasterwater Chemistry Manager - Large Public Sector Client - Derry/Londonderry
The role:
I am working with a fantastic Large Scale Client in their search for a Waste-water Chemistry Manager. The importance of this role will provide analytical service to internal and external customers of the organisation. The post holder will be leading the Waste-water Team, ensuring compliance with all current regulations, and report these findings into the Analytical Services Manager. The Waste-water Chemistry Manager will have technical responsibility for Chemistry test methods and all relevant systems.
Key Details:
- Provide technical direction, support, and advice to the Waste-water and Trade Effluent Laboratory.
- Supervise the development and validation of methodologies for waste-water analysis.
- Plan and prioritise technical projects to meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensure milestones within plans are reviewed and met.
- Ensure compliance with NIEA, UKAS, and the Quality System.
- Participate in UKAS and NIEA technical audits.
- Conduct internal audits of technical processes as required.
- Recommend continuous improvements to processes and procedures.
- Manage risk activities in line with ISO17025:2017.
- Address concerns, inquiries, or complaints from internal and external customers.
- Manage people and resources effectively.
- Ensure compliance with waste-water supply regulations and health and safety legislation.
- Liaise with the Analytically Services Manager to forecast resource use and budget needs.
- Recommend maintenance levels and negotiate maintenance contracts.
- Oversee staff management, training needs, and quality of analysis in the chemistry team.
Essential Criteria:
- A 3rd level qualification (HNC, HND or Degree) in Chemistry or in a subject where the study of Chemistry is a major component.
- Two years practical experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited chemistry laboratory.
- Hold Chartered Status (Chemist, Scientist or Quality) or be prepared to achieve full chartered status with a relevant professional body within two years of taking up position.
- Knowledge of Industry Chemistry Analysis.
- Health and Safety Knowledge (COSHH and Risk Assessment).
- Full Drivers License and access to method of transport.
