Senior Legal Counsel
MCS are delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded organisation seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide expert legal guidance to their Executive and Senior Leadership Team. This role offers the opportunity to deliver commercially focused legal solutions and work on complex, high-value projects across multiple areas of the business.
The Role
As a key member of the legal team, you will handle a variety of legal matters, including commercial contracts, procurement, disputes, property, competition law, regulatory compliance, and mergers and acquisitions. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will collaborate with senior stakeholders, compliance teams, and external advisers to deliver effective, practical legal support.
Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating diverse commercial agreements.
- Supporting teams across the business with legal, regulatory, and contractual matters.
- Advising on litigation and regulatory disputes, including liaising with external counsel.
- Ensuring compliance with advertising, marketing, and brand licensing requirements.
- Assessing potential risks and providing proactive solutions to mitigate them.
- Managing relationships with external legal advisers and contributing to budget oversight.
- Delivering internal legal training to develop team capabilities.
- Taking on additional projects as needed to support business goals.
The Person
- A UK-qualified solicitor or barrister with approximately 8 years of post-qualification experience (guide only).
- Proven experience in a fast-paced in-house legal environment.
- Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial and procurement contracts.
- Familiarity with key areas such as GDPR, intellectual property, antitrust, and anti-bribery regulations.
- A solutions-focused approach to resolving legal challenges.
- Experience in delivering internal training and managing external legal support.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills at all levels of an organisation.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and prioritise effectively.
- Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland as required.
- A full, clean driving license.
