Job Description

The Role will consist of:

  • Act as the first point of contact for media and Public Relations enquiries and drafting the responses within the specified timeframe
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with personnel from the media
  • Draft public notices, advertisements and press releases
  • Provide advice and assistance to staff in relation to production of literature and press releases,
  • Arrange photocalls, sourcing people, objects, location and photographer, preparing photo captions and distribution to media.
  • Distribute press releases and relevant photos within required timescales
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate consultation and engagement exercises with staff groups, the wider community, users of civic facilities and key stakeholders
  • Support the work of the Public Relations/Communications Working group in the development of effective networks
  • Be responsible for regular updating of corporate websites/social media sites
  • Contribute to corporate marketing events, including set-up, venue booking, contact relevant representatives, preparation of materials, equipment and attend event as when necessary
  • Monitor the Public Relations activities and produce reports
  • Code and prepare invoices for sign off within the required timescale

The Person:

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Relevant experience within PR and communications
  • Ability to work in partnership with others to deliver successful events
  • Successful engagement with communities and/or partners/stakeholders in the planning and delivery of local events

Desirable:

  • Proven ability that all events are safe for the public and the welfare of staff is not compromised
