Allstate NI provides a range of innovative, critical business support services including legal, technology, data, cybersecurity and finance.

Allstate NI is seeking to build on the successful migration of other departments to NI by continuing to build out a large team of paralegals over the coming months to support legal operations in the US - this truly is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed Legal Services team, one of the most high-profile new ventures in the NI legal market.

The role

Paralegals will have a varied and interesting workload, with main responsibilities including:

• Supporting staff counsel offices in the US on personal injury claims litigation work
• Review new file assignments, draft initial pleadings (e.g. answer, motion, etc.), and draft discovery
• Draft responses to discovery demands
• Assist clients in answering questions regarding discovery
• Review and serve responses to discovery demands
• Redact claim files and prepare privilege logs
• Prepare Case Evaluation Summaries
• Prepare Simple and Complex Motions and Briefs
• Schedule Independent Medical Exams and provide examining physician with necessary records
• Prepare subpoenas and order records
• Assist attorney in preparing materials for trial, arbitration or mediation
• Assist with the identification and summarising of relevant issues; continually monitor issues and update attorney, as appropriate
• Conduct Legal Research

The candidate
It is essential that candidates have:

• Relevant undergraduate degree or relevant postgraduate degree or paralegal qualification
• Minimum 6 month's experience working in a paralegal or similar legal support role
• Meticulous with good attention to detail
• Exceptional organisational skills

OR

• Undergraduate degree (or currently working towards this qualification)
• Minimum 2 year's experience working in a paralegal or similar legal support role with insurance claims experience
• Meticulous with good attention to detail
• Exceptional organisational skills

It is preferable that candidates have 2.1 or above in their undergraduate degree, a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, experience of personal injury insurance claims, and experience working within an international or US business, but these are not essential.
