IT Infrastructure Engineer

MCS Group is delighted to partner with an excellent charitable organisation that is seeking to add an IT Infrastructure Engineer to their team. The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of their IT infrastructure.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our client's IT services, with a special focus on Microsoft on-premises infrastructure, VMware administration, Microsoft 365 migration, Veeam backup solutions, and storage technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Align IT infrastructure strategy with organisational goals to drive business outcomes.
• Lead infrastructure projects that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of business operations.
• Collaborate with various departments to understand and meet their IT infrastructure needs.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable IT infrastructure solutions.
• Ensure the reliability and security of all infrastructure components.
• Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Lead infrastructure upgrade projects, including hardware and software updates.
• Collaborate with all IT colleagues to reinforce infrastructure security.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements and integrate them into our infrastructure where beneficial.
• Execute all patch management, backups, and routine maintenance procedures.
• Supervise and mentor the IT Support Engineer/s.
• Delegate tasks and manage project time lines effectively.
• Ensure good communication and a collaborative approach to work with the IT team, other departments, and various stakeholders.
• Create project plans, manage resource allocation and risk.
• Coordinate with vendors and external partners.
• Prepare and present progress reports to senior management.
• Inform and implement IT policies and strategies.

Essential Criteria:

• Foundation degree or higher in a related field. (Must Have)
• Proven experience in IT infrastructure roles focusing on Microsoft, VMware, and Cisco Meraki technologies.
• Proven experience in planning and executing migrations to Microsoft 365 (including Office 365, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Intune).
• Experience in using Veeam for backup, replication, and recovery tasks.

Remuneration:

• Monday - Friday 9 to 5:30 (with 1 hour lunch break) 35 hour working week
• Onsite in Newtownards - hybrid post probation.
