Job Description
MCS Group is currently working alongside a leading global provider of air, road, and sea freight logistics services, recognised for delivering innovative solutions that connect businesses and drive success to recruit a Business Development Manager.
With offices in Belfast and Tullamore their company is committed to supporting clients in navigating the complexities of supply chain management across multiple industries.
As a Business Development Manager for the island of Ireland you will play a pivotal role in expanding their client base and market share. Your primary responsibility will be to identify new business opportunities, foster strong client relationships, and work closely with internal teams to deliver customised freight solutions that meet the needs of their diverse clients. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of business growth in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Market and Client Research: Identify, target, and qualify new business leads in key market segments across air, road, and sea freight logistics.
- Sales Development: Drive the entire sales process, including prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing contracts to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and encourage long-term partnerships. Conduct regular check-ins and address any issues that may arise.
- Collaborative Strategy Development: Work closely operations and logistics teams to develop and deliver tailored solutions for clients.
- Reporting and Forecasting: Maintain accurate records of all client interactions, pipeline progress, and revenue forecasts, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Industry Insight and Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging client needs to proactively suggest service improvements and new offerings.
- Networking and Brand Representation: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote brand awareness and drive interest.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in business development or sales within the freight forwarding or logistics industry, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the air, road, and sea freight sectors, including regulatory requirements, market challenges, and pricing structures.
- Sales and Negotiation Skills: Demonstrated success in consultative sales and closing complex, multi-year contracts with diverse clients.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive and driven, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve organizational goals.
