Job Description
MCS Group is delighted to be assisting a key charity sector client source an Interim Assistant Accountant.
Immediate need. Role based onsite in Ballycastle. Ongoing temporary role.
Our client is open to considering candidates who are part qualified and qualified by experience.
The role is open to applicants seeking roles of either 4 or 5 days per week.
You will be working fully on the premises at their Ballycastle site.
You will be reporting directly to the Head of Finance & Business Development and working within a small Finance of team of 4 people.
The Role
Support the month end close process including journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations
Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts and associated reports
Support the management of grant funding agreements and contracts in conjunction with the Head of Programme and Programme Managers:
- Review, advise and oversee the preparation of financial reports and grant claims to funding partners in a mutually agreed format, ensuring submission on a timely basis
- Prepare and review monthly cashflow overview of grant funding
- Produce and review costings and budget proposals for new grant applications
Assist the Head of Finance in the preparation of annual budget, supporting the Leadership Team with support and advice to collate their departmental budgets
Payroll processing ensuring all appropriate documentation is submitted to HMRC and pension provider on a timely basis
Ensure that all financial policies, internal control measures and procedures are implemented
Work in close liaison with the Head of Finance to ensure the effective and efficient daily operation of the finance department and undertake ad hoc assignments as and when required.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Part Qualified Accountant or Candidates Qualified by experience
2 year's experience working in a similar finance role with previous experience in at least 4 of the following areas:
- Periodic/Month end reporting to budget holders
- Budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis
- Grant funding management and claims
- Cashflow management, including debt collection
- Payroll processing
Strong financial analytical skills with a good level of numeracy and ability to problem solve.
Good planning and organisational skills with attention to detail, methodical approach, aptitude to prioritise and ability to meet deadlines
Strong IT skills - proficient in use of MS Office, advanced excel skills and experience of computerised finance packages
Hands on proactive approach and able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
High level communication skills, both written and verbal, for a diverse range of audiences.
