Accountant

MCS Group is delighted to be working with a Public Sector Organisation based in Belfast in their search for an Accountant. The role of the Accountant will be responsible for financial management for a major project. Working with 12 partner organisations, the Accountant will be responsible for budget management, centralised reporting of project financial information, and management of project cash flows. The Accountant will also be responsible for claim submissions, ensuring eligibility of project related expenditure and liaison with the external project controller. The Accountant will play a key co-ordination role on all financial aspects of project delivery.

The Person:

• Candidates must be a part-qualified or fully qualified member of one of the relevant professional bodies OR A Fully Qualified Accounting Technician.
• Budget management including analysis of variances and preparation of reports for senior management.
• Use of Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and reporting, including use of advanced functionality (for example VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
• Month end closure to include reconciliation of control accounts and compilation of month end management accounts.
• Internal or external audit processes, including the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Working with non-financial departments within an organisation to provide finance support and analysis.
• Developing processes and procedures to include implementation of best practice arrangements.
