ASOS have set up a tech hub in Northern Ireland, you probably heard!! After initial success recruiting their first batch of hires, they are keen to add additional ASOSers to the team. ASOS are seeking to add 3 x Lead Big Data Software Engineers to join the strong group of hires already hired in NI. The Lead Big Data Software Engineers will join an award-winning technology team who sit at the heart of the business and the NI Tech Hub will play a big part.

As a Lead Big Data Engineer, you will be technically 'hands on' whilst mentoring and coaching a team of 6 engineers. Big Data Engineers in the AI & Data Science platform are specialised in big data, and its associated preparation, processing, and provision for use by Data and ML Scientists.

The Role

  • Leading the team & ensuring best practice is followed across engineering.
  • Ensuring data pipelines are scalable, repeatable, and secure, and can reliably provide the quality and throughput of data required for complex machine learning workloads.
  • Partner with Data & Machine Learning team to deliver real business impact.
  • Ensure that your team feel empowered to share their ideas and contribute.
  • Coaching and mentoring engineers within your team.
  • Deliver future proof high quality software which is scalable.
  • Research and experiment with new tools.
  • Play your part in Tech Develops to learn new things and share your knowledge.

The Person

The Successful Lead Data Engineers will have some of if not all the following:

  • Strong understanding of Big Data core conceptions and technologies.
  • Cloud experience with one of GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Programming knowledge, with an understanding of OOP principles and cloud engineering practices.
  • Experience in Scala and/or Python would be ideal.
  • Experience with the likes of Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Apache Spark.
  • Knowledge of ETL and Data Warehouse Technologies.
  • Infrastructure automation using a scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.
