ASOS have set up a tech hub in Northern Ireland, you probably heard!! After initial success recruiting their first batch of hires, they are keen to add additional ASOSers to the team. ASOS are seeking to add a Data Product Manager to join the strong group of hires already hired in NI. The Data Product Manager will join an award-winning technology team who sit at the heart of the business and the NI Tech Hub will play a big part.

As a Data Product Manager, you will be empowering ASOS to be the best it can be by driving sustainable competitive advantage through innovative use of data, data science, machine learning, and insights. This is a chance to work closely with the Solution Architect and Lead Engineer to direct future data development. This role is much more than managing a product backlog, this role will suit someone who thrives at forward thinking and delivering tangible value for the customer, early and often.

The Role

  • Build the strategic roadmap for the Big Data Engineering functions.
  • Articulate the business value of technical pieces of work.
  • Primary focus will be to assist Big Data Engineer but from time to time you may assist machine learning scientists.
  • Work with a diverse range of stakeholders and with other Data, AI and Tech teams, as well as other Product Managers, and stakeholders from other business areas such as retail and finance.
  • Contribute to shaping and prioritisation of the Big Data and AI platform roadmap and ensure alignment with ASOS strategic priorities.
  • Understand and document business requirements and turn them into accurate stories.
  • Regularly refine user stories with the team, lead planning and maintain product backlog.
  • Be an expert in the ASOS Data Domain.

The Person

The Successful Data Product Manager will have some of if not all the following:

  • Experience building, owning, adapting, and communicating a strategic roadmap.
  • Experience of having managed a data product.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in working in an Agile environment.
  • Understanding of data preparation steps and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Ability to gather and prioritise business requirements and translate these into user stories and an actionable backlog.
  • A problem-solving mindset, doing what it takes to solve the problem for the customer.
  • AI experience a bonus.
