MCS Group are recruiting a Management Accounts Assistant on behalf of a Top Ten accountancy practice based in Belfast. This role sits within our client's Outsourcing team, which provides outsourced finance services to their client base. The role will be remote for the foreseeable but will move to a hybrid working arrangement in future.

The Role

Sitting within our client's Outsourcing team, the successful candidate for this role will report to the Management Accounting Lead.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of management accounting information for review by the Management Accounting Lead to meet client needs, adhering to or exceeding deadlines
  • Bank reconciliations, liaising with the transaction processing team as required to resolve queries
  • Preparation and posting of general ledger journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll journals, fixed assets journals and all other required general ledger adjustments
  • Maintaining fixed assets registers, processing fixed asset events such as additions, disposals, revaluations, depreciation, and reconciliation of the fixed asset register to the general ledger
  • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Collation of management accounting packs for review, including lead and supporting schedules
  • Supporting client external audits by preparing audit files
  • Understand and adhere to GDPR guidelines when dealing with personal information
  • Preparation of VAT returns for review by Management Accounting Lead and GCVR team
  • Ensure effective controls are in place to maintain compliance with Tax and Accounting policies and procedures

Other duties may include:

  • Developing and maintaining procedural documentation relevant to role for knowledge transfer protocols and taking part in passing knowledge onto new team members as required
  • Actively look for opportunities to increase and expand knowledge base through research, on-the-job training and participation in continuous improvement projects
  • Take an active role in continuous improvement of process and technology through identification of areas of opportunity
  • Maintain strong internal controls and minimise risk
  • Identify changes in client expectations and highlight to line manager
  • Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of the position

The Person

Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of MCS and our client. In order to be considered, you must fulfil some or all of the following criteria:

  • Experience within an accountancy-related role, from either an industry or practice background (essential)
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, Outlook and Work
  • Relevant third-level qualification
  • Netsuite ERP experience
  • Able to prioritise workload and demonstrate strong organisational skills
