MCS Group have exclusively partnered with ACA Compliance group, a leading global governance risk and compliance provider to source a Tax Manager on a part time basis in line with the establishment of their new Belfast office.

The Company

The Role

You will have a small portfolio of personal tax clients to manage, many of which are non-UK domiciled Hedge Fund Managers. The role offers an exciting opportunity to gain and use experience of non-domicile and other offshore tax issues. You will work in the most specialist areas of private client taxation such as residence, domicile, remittance basis, reporting fund issues and offshore Trusts. This role is ideal for someone who has good experience in private client tax at Assistant Manager level and is looking to step up, or a recent promote to Manager level looking for a new challenge.

  • The preparation of Self-Assessment Tax Returns for primarily high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, with the majority of the clients working within the Hedge Fund and wider financial services sector.
  • Providing general support to clients by answering routine compliance queries in connection with their tax affairs by email and telephone.
  • Meetings with clients regarding tax compliance and general tax queries.
  • Spotting planning opportunities, for example, pre-UK arrival and inheritance tax planning, and working with team members on resulting projects.
  • Other ad-hoc duties will include improving systems within the Private Client Tax business and develop knowledge through reading tax literature and attending CPD courses.

The Requirements

  • Hold the CTA qualification, with ATT as a minimum.
  • Demonstrate significant experience in managing the affairs of private clients through having successfully worked compliance portfolios.
  • Have a good working knowledge of basis periods and overlap relief.
  • Not be afraid to research and gain expertise in new areas of private client tax such as domicile, remittance basis, reporting fund and residency issues.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Bring positive energy to the work environment.
