Trainee Accountant - Global Firm

MCS Group have exclusively partnered with ACA Compliance group, a leading global governance risk and compliance provider to source a trainee accountant in line with the establishment of their new Belfast office. This full scope accounting firm specialises in the provision of accounting, tax, Prudential management, regulatory reporting and advisory services to a large portfolio of Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Real Estate, Corporate Finance and Securities Brokers.

With offices across Europe, Asia and the USA they are expanding their service operations to Belfast as part of its strategy to address the growth resulting from the significant expansion in its marketing footprint, particularly in relation to supporting US fund managers expanding operations to Europe and/or marketing their fund range to European investors.

The role offers an exciting opportunity to become part of a leading team in this specialist sector, and a trusted advisor to owner-managed and international clients. You will work towards an accounting qualification and develop a detailed understanding of the niche sectors.

The Role

  • Undertaking client book-keeping
  • Performance of iXBRL tagging of financial statements
  • Assistance with the preparation of monthly management accounts, VAT returns, annual financial statements, audit packs and Companies House filings
  • Preparing FCA and Maltese FSA regulatory reporting
  • Assistance with monitoring and forecasting clients' regulatory capital needs

As you progress through your professional studies and in the role, you will increasingly be involved in:

  • managing clients' regulatory capital levels and prudential risk;
  • working with start-up firms and international asset managers expanding operations to the UK to establish robust financial projections supporting applications for FCA authorisation.

The Requirements

  • Demonstrate an aptitude for numbers through good public exam results including Maths, Physics and/or Accounting
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to timely completion of an accountancy qualification towards full qualification as a Chartered Accountant
  • Be enthusiastic at the prospect of developing expertise in regulatory accounting, in particular prudential capital planning, monitoring and reporting
  • Have a solid client relationship focus
  • Have strong sense of team to collaborate with FRR and other ACA colleagues and with clients
  • Have excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Possess an excellent work ethic and can-do attitude
  • Be highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Bring positive energy to the work environment
