MCS Group have exclusively partnered with a leading global governance risk and compliance provider to source a qualified accountant in line with the establishment of their new Belfast office. This full scope accounting firm specialises in the provision of accounting, tax, prudential management, regulatory reporting and advisory services to a large portfolio of Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Real Estate, Corporate Finance and Securities Brokers.

With offices across Europe, Asia and the USA they are expanding their service operations to Belfast as part of its strategy to address the growth resulting from the significant expansion in its marketing footprint, particularly in relation to supporting US fund managers expanding operations to Europe and/or marketing their fund range to European investors.

The Role

  • Managing a portfolio of client relationships in conjunction with other FRR team members in Belfast and London and professionals in other ACA divisions
  • Responsibility for the timeliness and quality of FRR services to your portfolio
  • Performance of accounting, prudential management and regulatory reporting tasks including Annex IV reporting
  • Working with start-up firms and international asset managers expanding operations to the UK to establish robust financial projections supporting applications for FCA authorisation
  • Preparing ICAAP reports and advising clients on optimal capital levels
  • Mentoring junior team members

The Requirements

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to enhancement of FRR procedures and processes and to assist the head of the Belfast office with managing the local team.

  • Be a qualified or recently-qualified accountant with a strong desire to move to a growing, financial services-focused practice
  • Demonstrate prior experience, either (in practice) of servicing a portfolio of clients, or (in industry) of managing multiple stakeholder relationships
  • Be enthusiastic at the prospect of developing expertise in regulatory accounting, in particular prudential capital planning, monitoring and reporting.
  • Have a solid client relationship focus
  • Possess an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Have strong sense of team to collaborate with FRR and other ACA colleagues and with clients
  • Have excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Possess an excellent work ethic and can-do attitude
  • Be highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Bring positive energy to the work environment to assist in motivating team mates and colleagues

  • the Hedge Fund, Private Equity, Real Estate, Corporate Finance and Securities Broking sectors;
  • managing regulatory capital levels and prudential risk in such firms;
  • FCA and Maltese FSA regulatory reporting performing risk assessments and modelling capital requirements ("ICAAP"); and
  • UK and pan-European reporting ("Annex IV reporting").
