Training Officer - Globally recognised business - Ballymena

MCS Group has been retained by one of Northern Irelands leading businesses, currently seeking a Training Officer based in Ballymena due to company growth.

The role

Reporting to the site HR Business Partner, the Training Officer will assume full management responsibility for the site Training Function, ensuring it delivers on objectives. This will include the management and development of the Site Trainer and Specialist Skills Trainers.

As such it is essential that applicants hold a CIPD certificate in Training Practice, have had 3 years' experience within a Training Environment, at least 2 years supervisory/management experience, be IT literate with the ability to write reports and work within budgets. Good Communication, Interpersonal and Organisation skills are also essential with the flexibility of shift hours to meet Operational requirements.

Key duties include:

  • Identify training and development needs of Site personnel using a variety of methods including training needs analysis surveys, recruitment and induction process, end of probation reviews
  • Ensure maintenance of the training records matrix and training needs by role matrix
  • Ensure site training plan is targeted to deliver key competencies
  • Implement an annual training programme based on training needs identified for individual staff units,
  • Develop, co-ordinate and maintain all in-house training courses, workshops
  • Develop ad hoc or one off training provisions as required
  • Oversee the site induction process, ensuring quality and consistency in delivery. .
  • Monitor and maintain the training budget, keeping an accurate record of expenditure and training hours compilation records.
  • Oversee the completion of all probationary and annual appraisals, ensuring relevant documentation is completed and recorded on the HR system and to ensure all appraisals are kept in line with designated timelines.
  • Deliver Management training for the site as required.
  • Take the lead with customer audits / visits to site in relation to training

The right fit

Suitable candidates will possess a CIPD certificate in Training Practice and have experience working within a heavily unionised environment, where they have worked with senior stakeholders, possessing extensive training experience

  • 2+ years Supervisory/management experience
  • Shift flexibility to meet Operational needs
