Lead Software Engineer (Big Data)

MCS Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with a strong background in Big Data Technologies to spearhead an exciting data transformation project for one of their closest clients. A global technology business with a major tech hub in Ireland, they are embarking on a huge data modernisation project and will afford an ambitious Software Engineering professional the chance to work on a greenfield, enterprise-level project along with building out and leading their own high-performing team.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the lead software engineer will lead a multi-disciplined team of 5-7 engineers.

You'll work closely with design and architecture teams to understand and deliver a massive data transformation project.

You'll play a key role in how data warehouses are set up along with designing and building reporting systems and pipelines.

The Person

You'll have a strong background in Software Engineering (with a strong data focus) OR Data Engineering, ideally at enterprise level.

You'll have a strong foundation earlier in your career in Object Orientated application development (.Net or Java).

You'll have worked on large-scale data processing projects and ideally have experience of data governance.

You'll be comfortable working with Java (or Scala), Apache Spark, SQL and cloud technologies (either Azure or AWS).

Salary

Up to €120,000 depending upon experience with a leading benefits package which includes remote working within Ireland.
