Institute of Directors

The IoD is the UK’s number one organisation for business leaders. It is a non-party political business organisation founded by Royal Charter in 1903 with around 34,000 members, a turnover of just under £30million. Its key activities include providing leading edge representation, support, development and standard setting for directors and leaders in organisations – helping them achieve greater success for their organisations and their own careers.

Members of the IoD include directors of large corporations as well as entrepreneurial directors of start-up companies from many sectors of the economy – media, manufacturing, e-business, and also leaders in the public sector. The IoD has always championed the entrepreneur and continually strives to use its influence to ensure an environment conducive to business success. Find out more about the IoD.

The Institute of Directors will be investing in the creation of an IoD Academy in Northern Ireland, launching in January 2018.

IoD Academy NI will offer the Certificate in Company Direction, Accelerated Certificate, Developing Board Performance, Role of the Non-Executive Director, Finance for Directors, Role of the Company Chair, amongst other short courses and in-house company training.

The digital campus of the IoD Academy, launching in early 2018, will offer IoD members and course delegates an opportunity to learn online, via any device and through the IoD Academy website or mobile app. Members will be able to benchmark themselves against the framework, identify gaps in their knowledge and access bite sized CPD content designed to support their specific development needs.
